Have you ever heard the phrase “look before you leap”?
I’m sure we all have, and considering that today is Lead Day or Leap Year Day, I felt it would be fitting to share my Reflections on it.
Looking before you leap can be considered wise counsel in many contexts.
I’m a fan of reading the book of Proverbs and one of the verses says that where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.
So I’m not saying that council is wrong, but in business there are many times you just gotta take the leap.
Call it faith, call it what you will.
There are countless examples of highly successful entrepreneurs coming up with ideas, everyone saying they’re crazy and not to do it, the entrepreneur does it anyway and ends up wildly successful.
Just look at the story of Starbucks. Schultz wanted to change the experience the customers received at the coffee place he was a part of but his partners disagreed.
So much so that at one point they fired Schultz. Schultz ended up going on to create Starbucks and the rest is history.
My point here is not to be reckless, but if you’ve got an idea you know is solid and believe it will create the results you want, commit to persisting until you succeed.
Direct your mind in the direction you want to go, adapt based on the learnings you pick up along the way, and iterate your way to success. Good luck!
Death - Before - Dishonor
To your success,
Nate
